About AppSec Phoenix

AppSec Phoenix is a cybersecurity start-up working on an exciting new product and looking for a Sales Executive to expand the sales function. You will be working on our latest product Appsec Phoenix, which is disrupting the world of vulnerability management, application security, and cloud security. We are looking for a candidate who wants to work dynamically and flexibly, self-manage, and has start-up or cybersecurity experience, ideally on SaaS products.

AppSec Phoenix helps CIOs/CTOs/CISOs and developers talk the same language regarding vulnerability management. The AppSec Phoenix platform enables a clear view on vulnerabilities, with contextualization within business applications and with enriched information (like cost of the application and risk in relation to the importance level of the application). The platform is extending its data sources and applying data science to enable inference and suggestions for clients.

About the Role

We are looking for a Backend Developer to help take our application to the next level in AppSec, Infra and Cloud security. Our ideal candidate should have experience and knowledge around building backend APIs and services using Kotlin and Spring Boot.

You will work with the wider team of developers to implement functional changes and improvements to our platform. Ultimately, you’ll create both functional and appealing features that address our clients’ needs and help us grow our customer base.

Kotlin (backend)
Spring Boot
Postgresql
Container deployment (Docker)
AWS deployments (ECS, EKS, RDS)

Responsibilities

Work independently on defined requirements and stories
Collaborate with the team to improve the implementation velocity and effectiveness
Propose functional and technical alternatives and options pertinent to the work at hand
Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders
Identify and troubleshoot technical problems
Collaborate in architectural discussions and decisions

Requirements

Experience with Spring Boot and backend Kotlin (Java experience acceptable)
Familiarity with AWS services like Cognito and KMS
Keen on alternative languages/stacks: e.g. golang, rust
Proven work experience as a backend developer
Portfolio of implemented projects
Familiar with REST(ish) API design
Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
Team spirit; strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders
Extremely good time-management skills
Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Github Projects
BSc in Computer Science or relevant field – or equivalent qualification/experience
UK resident with valid work permit
