We are Avian, a new startup founded by Kyle and Hans, we are two passionate techies. We are looking for a second technical co-founder to join Kyle working on the product. Kyle has built and sold two businesses before and is a seasoned entrepreneur. And Hans has been involved on a few successful startups and ran a product design agency before.

The company was founded only a few months ago. Our mission is that everyone can have a proper modern data set up in their company, enabling them to share data with their team and customers in a much easier and safer way. Right now Kyle is building the MVP using Python, Django, Celery, Postgres & AWS. Hans is focused on the product and on marketing. We have a decent seed round and a waitlist of customers.

🛠 What we are looking for

You will join us as our third founder, we are solving a difficult technical problem and there are a lot of technical decisions ahead of us. You will be able to own a lot of these technical problems and join as CTO or as a developer and grow into the CTO role when you are ready.

You will be working very closely with the CEO who is a passionate and very competent developer himself, you will be responsible for architecting and building an extract, load and transform workflow for connectors and destinations. The idea is to build clean, reusable and effective abstractions to eventually support over 100 connectors - including authentication, extraction and load into over 20 destinations. Our stack is Python, Django, Celery, Postgres, AWS. Experience with Celery task scheduling at scale with event driven models and state tracking would help a lot in your role.

🧑‍💻 About you

If you have a data science background with heavy usage of SQL, as well as familiarity with tools such as Apache Airflow and DBT you are likely a good fit. You will be building models and working within the Django ORM to support transfers of billions of rows of data per month. Familiarity with data warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift and BigQuery as well as data visualisation tools like Looker is amazing but we learned a lot since starting the company it’s likely you will too!

We got an office in London to make collaboration and teamwork easier and we expect you to be able to come into the office regularly especially in the beginning as you are part of the core team and are involved in making large decisions. You will be able to find a rhythm that works for you. As we’re growing and likely moving soon you will have input in where the office location is.
