Background

EduKit is an EdTech company that helps schools to understand and improve the mental health and wellbeing of their students. Our services are critical at this time and as such, we developed a mobile app for primary and secondary aged children which we launched in Sept 2020. Designed to help students through the pandemic, the app contains useful videos, online resources and surveys to ensure vital emotional and mental health support gets to those children who need it most.

We are growing and are looking for a highly-driven, effective and ambitious senior developer to join us. The role is multi-faceted and will be solely responsible for our development and product roadmap. You will also have product management responsibilities and need to collect / analyse data and speak to clients to understand their usage and needs. This role is absolutely key in the growth and success of the team.

You should be bold, entrepreneurial and highly effective. You should feel comfortable working individually or as part of a team. As you will be interacting with schools and students, you should also have excellent oral communication skills and be excited about working with, inspiring and empowering school children.

Tech progress to date:

EduKit has received seed investment and is on its second product iteration. The first build was completed by an external team as part of the investment, and the second iteration where we introduced the mobile app was developed by a UK based agency. We are now looking to build a product team in-house and this starts with the CTO.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with our current tech stack but will also be interested in data science as we will be looking to leverage value from the data we hold.

Your responsibilities would include but not be limited to:

lead developer / product lead
code review
system documentation
requirements gathering / roadmap planning
talking to customers and the sales team
technology strategy
team expansion
external subcontractor management
reporting to the CEO / board

EduKit has an established customer base and has recently invested in a sales growth strategy. This role begins with our current products, but will expand into new products and services that meet our customers' needs.

Details:

This is a fully remote role, but we'd prefer a UK or EU based candidate.

Timing:

We are currently looking to engage a tech lead immediately on a part time or ad-hoc basis. We anticipate moving to a full-time role in Autumn 2022.

About You

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years' experience in product development

Desirable:

Experience within a start-up
Experience within the edtech sector
