Now we are looking for a Founding Head of Engineering (f/m/x) to help us enable 1 million young professionals to learn the skills to succeed in the future of work and find their dream jobs by 2030.

Role overview:

This is the first engineering role at Hyphen and you’ll be responsible for building a platform from scratch that makes this vision a reality, with great UX, performance and robustness.

We want you to grow into the CTO role short-term and we will support you in your journey from day one.

What you’ll do:

Leading our product development and tackling our key technical challenges.
Building our software from scratch - take charge of platform development, and make key decisions on technical architecture.
Oversight of all aspects of engineering including technical strategy, best practice implementation, and technology stacks.
Define technical support processes and ensure customer support for technical issues.
Deliver the MVP, enabling us to test, iterate and serve our early customers.

A mission-driven Full-Stack Software Engineer with several years of experience building state-of-the-art consumer tech products.
A proven track record of taking ideas and bringing them to life.
You are a builder and a leader who cares deeply about shaping the right team to tackle big challenges.
You deeply care about performance and resilience of the applications you build and own their lifecycle.
You communicate with precision and are able to distill complex systems into manageable and easy to understand chunks.
You take a user-focused approach to solutions and problem solving.
You have worked in a fast-growing startup before and have the drive to solve problems in a highly ambiguous environment/
(Ideally) experience in building products in the Ed-tech and/or social networking space.
(Ideally) based in London or Berlin - we’re remote by definition but aim to build hubs in London and Berlin that our future team members should join.
