We are looking for a Game Developer with strong technical knowledge and expertise to join our Core Team.

We are building a non-toxic metaverse for children and teenagers with the mission to improve the health and well-being of young people globally. Over the last year, we went through a mental health accelerator and spend many weeks on research - talking to parents, health professionals, and young people. We validated the global problem and are now testing market/solution fit.

We are a team of 4, including a Space Designer and Psychologist.

We are looking for a talented video game developer to help build the next generation of games for our company. In this role you will be responsible for coding the initial base engine of the game, fixing bugs, and troubleshooting design issues. You may also be required to help develop storylines, characters, levels, puzzles and contribute to the overall game concept.

To ensure success as a video game developer, you should have strong design skills, in-depth knowledge of coding software, and the ability to work as part of a team. A top-class video game developer expertly translates the ideas of the design team into a virtual environment that can be scaled and manipulated accordingly.

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with others to produce a prototype - a small-scale playable version of the game
Meet with the design team to discuss game concepts. Consider, plan and detail every element of a new game including the setting, rules, story flow, props, character interface and modes of play
Write scripts and design storyboards. Contribute to the overall game concept and storyline. Translate design ideas into a detailed concept and functional game code
Contribute to audio and animation design and animate characters and create levels
Develop milestones and checkpoints. Fix bugs and create game specifications and design expansion packs
Knows all of the nitty-gritty details of the product, bringing anyone up to speed and ensuring no fine points are missed.
Stays up to date by researching the market; sharing knowledge of gaming trends, technologies and experiences with teammates. Conduct market research to understand the target audience

Qualifications & Skills

Excellent game developer/designer with a portfolio that reflects knowledge and expertise for this role and proficiency in programming languages, including C++, Java, and C.
Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or computer science with experience with full-cycle game design
Experience building libraries and APIs and the ability to solve complex software and coding issues
Knowledge of the latest gaming trends
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to pitch complex concept ideas to a non-design audience and get buy-in
Takes accountability and ownership of work from start to finish
Ability to take direction and feedback
Creative Thinker and strong analytical frame of mind with strong artistic and technical skills
Problem solver, results-oriented, self-motivated and disciplined
Ability to work as part of a team.
