At OptimalSlope we are on a mission to transform metalliferous mining into a clean and efficient business. OptimalSlope is intelligent software that designs optimal open-pit mine pitwalls. Because of the optimality of the pitwall shapes obtained, the amount of waste rock to be excavated is substantially reduced and so in turn the mining carbon footprint is greatly reduced and much less tailings (residue of excavated rock) need to be disposed of.

Job role Description

You will build file import capabilities using the Open Mining Format protocol so that the topography and stratigraphy/lithology of the deposit can be imported directly from key existing commercial mining software packages (e.g. Leapfrog Geo) into our existing windows desktop application.You will build a new User Interface (UI) for our product employing a suitable software stack (the current textual UI is written in C#) with the supervision of the whole company team. To this end, you will explore the use of available copyleft software to avoid building the new UI from scratch.

Responsibilities

Develop a feature for importing files from key existing commercial mining software packages using the Open Mining Format protocol
Develop a new UI for our product
Research and propose suitable software solutions throughout the development process in order to implement the new UI
Create and run benchmark cases to verify the functional correctness of the developed software
Document, review and amend software features according to the feedback received from the company team

Skills and Qualifications

preferable Bachelor's degree in software engineering or computer science
experience with UI frameworks for building Windows desktop applications, e.g., WinForms, WPF
technical knowledge of standard .NET/C# stack
hands-on experience developing windows desktop applications with strong debugging and testing skills
understanding of broader software engineering topics (scripting, APIs, databases, design patterns, and architectures) would be a plus
