We are the Snaptrip Group. Founded in London in April 2014, as Snaptrip, a marketplace for people to discover the best last minute cottage holiday deals in the UK, was launched. Since then we've grown and the group now contains over 8 sites, including Snaptrip, Last Minute Cottages and Dog Friendly Cottages, 3 of the biggest holiday rental sites in the UK, and LateRooms.com, one of the most recognisable names in hotel booking, receiving over 20 million visitors a year. Despite this, our mission remains the same, to try and make taking a staycation easy and affordable for everybody.

Snaptrip Group brings together the UK’s best online accommodation marketplaces dedicated to cottages, lodges, hotels and villa holidays. We aim to offer our customers the widest choice of properties, at the best price. From spontaneous coastal holidays with a loved one to exceptional half term family deals, big group getaways, Christmas cottages and much more – we aim to make it as easy as possible for you to take a break.

The role

As a key member of the tech team you will:

Lead all PHP initiatives, drive adoption of best practices and help us build up PHP expertise.
Be a tech and product advocate for our owner platform.
Be willing to expand horizons, with interesting in practicing a bit of Ruby/Rails, Golang/Scala, a bit of data analysis, a bit of devops and much more.
Get to carve your own niche reporting directly to our Principal Developer and working closely with the CTO and Head of Product.
Work with your partners in crime, our product team, you’ll come up with quick ways to test features before we build out to production.
Work on scaling out our big product changes.

The person

We’re looking for:

Multiple years experience in PHP.
Experience of vanilla PHP with templating and also PHP Frameworks.
Solid MySQL knowledge.
Github and version control.
Competency of dev, deploy and release cycle on AWS or Heroku.
Experience of integrating with APIs, bonus points for GraphQL.
Experience of exposing data as feeds or APIs.
Competent with JS and CSS.
Interest in Ruby (or past experience) with a view to developing this knowledge more in the future as you get more involved with other products.
Willing to learn up Ruby / Rails and help with technology migration.
Eager to use the latest technologies but also get their hands dirty.
Embracing responsibility, everything you do will have an impact and we’re data driven so we can measure the difference we make.
Pragmatic as well as opinionated.
Must be able to work from our office on the Southbank of London on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Bonus points:

Polyglot (any of Go, Scala, Java, Python etc).
Experience in any of the following (we use them all): REST, GraphQL, mongoDB, Golang, Scala/Play, Elasticsearch, Redis, Heroku, AWS, messaging, Presto, Data ETL / analysis, Docker - show us your awesome github profile.
