We are looking for an experienced and independent developer who knows what their ideal front-end codebase looks like. You will have opinions on how things should (and should not) be done and will be able to impart many of them on our codebase. As our first dedicated front-end developer you will be responsible for taking our front-end to the next level.Working in this role<ul><li>As a front-end engineer you will work closely with product design which might require more synchronous meetings than usual</li></ul>Key tasks<ul><li>You will mostly be working on new features which will generally require you to create mock UIs against a fake back-end to simulate how the feature would work as a prototype</li><li>You will use what we learnt from building these prototypes to implement the actual feature and connect it to a real back-end that someone else on the team implements</li><li>You will be improving the front-end codebase by introducing new tools, conventions and workflows</li><li>You will be maintaining the front-end codebase by fixing bugs, upgrading packages and configuring tools like Webpack and Babel</li><li>You will collaborate closely with the product design and the engineering team</li></ul>Skills &amp; experienceYou have lots of opinions and ideas on what an ideal codebase and workflow should look like. You will triage incoming issues, QA outgoing code changes, fix bugs, communicate with Support staff and sometimes directly with users of our platform. You need to be a good communicator with a good understanding of and experience with both front-end and back-end code. We don’t expect as deep technical understanding as we would from a dedicated back-end, front-end or full-stack developer, a broad skill-set is preferable. Any downtime will be spent improving the quality of our application and preventing issues before they occur.Working in this role <ul><li>Your working hours will require at least some overlap with our core support hours, 6AM-10AM PST, to better support our users and handle incoming issues</li></ul>Key tasks<ul><li>Triage and fix incoming issues and respond to support requests from colleagues.
