UX Developer: financial crime consulting – extraordinary opportunity

This is a rare opportunity for an accomplished UX developer to join an early-stage organisation looking to make a real commercial and social difference in respect of the blight of financial crime.

Job purpose:

We are looking for an experienced UX / Front-end software engineer to join our clients growing team and help shape and enhance their technology platform. Successful candidates will have a minimum of five years’ recent experience in designing and developing cloud scale solutions that drive the user experience and deliver visual value to their end users.

You will work closely with the CTO as an active member of the development team, leading all aspects of UX development work. You will work closely in alignment with the other engineers to ensure a clear but efficient separation of concerns across the platform tiers. You will interact with all parts of the organisation to fully understand end user requirements and be involved in the full lifecycle from design, development, through to operations.

As a UX engineer, your skills will go way beyond that over the visual itself, you will be analytical, measuring and optimising our client’s platform to improve ease of use, and create the best user experience by exploring many different approaches to solve end-users’ problems. Use of feedback loops, application monitoring, a-b testing and other approaches will be in your blood.

You will be self-motivated, always wanting to learn, a team player and be able to manage change in your stride and be seen by the rest of the team and the organisation as a whole as the go to person for user experience.

In addition to development of the regtech platform, you will also work closely with marketing and actively support the development of main web sites and other customer facing materials. In so doing, ensure brand values pervade all visual assets.

Skills:

Frontend:

* Extensive demonstrable experience in UX design experience across full-lifecycle;

* Strong proven experience of web technologies, HTML,

CSS, SASS, Bootstrap, Javascript etc;

Experience of Vue, Angular or ReactJS, plexus TypeScript, an advantage

* Experience of UX tools from Photoshop, illustrator;

* Mobile development experience, an advantage;

* Wider UX experience across other media.

Middle Tier:

* The platform uses Microsoft Azure and experience of Microsoft tools will be very advantageous. Eg C#, ASP.NET, DotNet Core, MVC;

* Experience of Python, Node.js would also be very valued;

* Experience developing and managing REST APIs, versioning and design patterns.

Data Tier:

* Demonstrable knowledge of data storage patterns will be highly desirable including SQL, schemas, stored procedures etc;

* SQL Azure, Cosmos, Azure storage, No SQL will be beneficial;

* Experience in data warehousing and data lakes eg

Snowflake, a big advantage;

* Experience of data analysis and use of AI/ML highly desirable;

* Broad experience of handling different data formats including JSON, XML, database schemas.

Infrastructure:

* Experience of developing and hosting on Microsoft’s Azure platform especially use of Application Insights and or Google Analytics will be very valuable.

Processes:

* Full life cycle experience and use of Agile methodologies (Kanban,SCRUM);

* Proficiency with Git and Azure Devops for version control and branch strategies;

* UX feedback loops, user testing and evaluation tools (a-b testing etc);

* UX Testing tools and platforms and unit testing;

* Appreciation for clean and well documented code;

* Devops pipeline process of CI / CD.
