Your role
You have useful, core skills in several technologies that you can apply in a project context. You are able to work flexibly and remain willing to adopt new technologies and languages at pace. You have an understanding of the underlying principles that govern the coding practices you use and are able to apply these principles to any given project. You will take responsibility for your own productivity and begin to take ownership over components within an overall solution. It's also likely that you will also start to manage and mentor some more junior people on your project.
• Contributing to enhancement of existing code base and feature development on any given project.
• Working independently within your core technical skillset.
• Applying relevant good practice design and coding standards to your own work.
• Embedding yourself quickly within the culture of a given project development team.
• Formulating designs for components and small solutions, working with more senior developers to obtain ideas and feedback.
• Being self-driven in terms of quality and process.
• Identifying and escalating risks appropriately.
• Actively and constructively participating in delivery processes and ceremonies such as planning sessions, retrospectives, and reviews.
• Supporting and mentoring more junior developers.
• Engaging with and contributing to the wider practice outside of the immediate project.
• Using self-initiative to overcome impediments.
• Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution
• Awareness of relevant design patterns.
• Deep understanding of object-orientated programming, data structures, and algorithms.
• Writing effective automated unit and integration tests.
• Understanding core agile practices such as Scrum and Kanban.

Join Our South West Team
Located in the heart of Bristol, a top 10 city in Europe for tech, you will be joining a team that will comprise of analysts, creative designers, front-end engineers, solution engineers and testers, that will provide creative digital and technology services for our clients in the South West and beyond.
Work pattern
This is a permanent contract opportunity. The role can be worked on a full-time basis.
Our team members work a variety of agile working patterns. Tell us what arrangement works for you and we'll try to accommodate.

Your professional experience
• Java 8
• Java tools and frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, Maven and Gradle
• Automated testing using tools such as Junit, Spock, Gatling and Selenium
• Creating RESTful APIs
• Source control, preferably git
• Container-based architecture (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Unix / Linux
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, Digital Ocean, etc.)
• Java Script
• Java Script framework such as React, Vue and Angular
• Creating functional applications
• Node
• Familiarity working with an integration platform, such as MuleSoft, Dell Boomi or Apigee
• Working with databases (relational and non-relational)
• Deploying using CI/CD pipelines
• Building CI/CD pipelines to support DevOps
