My client is looking for a Lead Software Engineer:

Job purpose

Reporting to the Head of Technology, the Lead Software Engineer leads a team of one other Software Engineer, a QA Analyst and Data Analyst, and works with a Product Owner, a Business Analyst, and 3rd party software vendors, and other technology and digital specialists to ensure key systems and projects for the company are scoped, agreed, developed, tested and delivered.

Initially the successful applicant will be a key part of the Agile project team with the exciting brief to reimagine and rebuild internally developed and supported sales software.

Once the initial sales software project is complete the role is intended to evolve, incorporating support for new and existing internal software, whilst also exploring how the client can further iterate and refine within our software stable to serve both internal users and external customers.

Key Accountabilities

Overall accountability for the technical decisions of the IT Development team
Line management of the members of the IT Development team
Development of software that realises business and technical requirements for systems functionality and performance
Make recommendations around software architecture and behaviour to yield an intuitive and productive user experience
Iterate on existing functionality to constantly improve and refine UI, functionality, and code quality
Collaborate with the QA Analyst to ensure all developed features are tested thoroughly and in a timely fashion
Document code consistently throughout the development process by listing a description, special instructions, and any changes made in database tables on procedural, modular and database level
Release code to staging and production environments
Troubleshoot and resolve support issues

Essential skills and experience

Demonstrable recent experience working in full-stack web development in a relevant area, preferably Angular
A background in developing, managing, maintaining and enhancing inhouse built software products across the full stack
Ability to adhere to designs and deliver accurate builds
Previous use of source control repositories
Previous use of continuous integration technologies
Experience working on building commercial software products across the full stack
TypeScript, npm, Angular CLI, SCSS, HTML, .NET, C# (Python would also be an advantage)
Experience of mobile-first development

Beneficial skills and experience

Experience using linters such as TSLint, ESLint and Stylelint
Elasticsearch and Kibana
Azure technologies including Azure SQL, CosmosDB, Functions Web.
Experience with formal unit testing methodologies
Experience with Pipeline/ ARM templates
