About the role

The Virtual Power Plant is a complex, cloud based automated system for exercising real-time control over large numbers of heterogeneous devices for the purposes of optimising electricity demand and management.

The Front End Developer plays a key role developing and maintaining the Front End applications that support Future Energy programs including Connect, Virtual Power Plant and Jindabyne data and analytics. You will be working on multiple projects at the same time, and so we are looking for someone who is able to work in an ambiguous environment where no days are the same.

Responsibilities & Duties 

• Develop and maintain complex front end applications in a business-critical environment.

• Collaborate with back-end developers, graphic designers, BA and clients on bespoke web development projects.

• Release management for production changes relating to front end applications (e.g. scheduling, communications, implementation, and post verification testing).

• Maintain and improve the quality and performance of jobs in our production environment. This may include ensuring we have the right tools and processes in place to identify defects and bottlenecks early and educating our developers to ensure best practices are followed and pre-deployment requirements are clear.

• Build and maintain a best in class deployment process by utilising CI/CD tooling and practices.

• Respond to incidents, including out of hours where required. Note that on-call support is via a 24x7 rotating roster, however after hours call outs are typically infrequent.

About you

You enjoy working directly with clients and collaborating with internal teams to put forward your ideas to come up with solutions and recommendations. 

• Minimum 3 years hands on experience developing web applications.

• Full stack development experience.

• Demonstrated hands-on experience with ReactJS and applications with a focus on large datasets and performance focused front ends.

• Strong Communication skills (written and verbal)

• Thorough understanding of modern Web development concepts and practices in a complex environment.

• Experience with common web technologies (HTML5, CSS, Material UI, Javascript, Typescript).

• Enjoys and seeks continuous learning and keeps up to date with industry developments and best practices.

• Experience with any of the following databases: Amazon Aurora, Amazon Redshift, PostgreSQL
