The Front End Developer role holds responsibility for working closely as part of a squad to fulfil the development and support of full-lifecycle development and test of solutions at Alcumus. The role will require keeping up to date with the latest relevant technological innovations and looking for ways to improve the software process, contribute to team discussions and to support and refine software processes.

What that means day-to-day: Write excellent code for our Typescript and React application front ends. Contribute to APIs and services built on Node JS, .net core, and other technologies. Support excellent planning and architecture discussions to ensure solutions match the needs of the problem being solved. Work within a squad and support the squad’s successful execution to its mission, including supporting Stand-up Meetings, Retrospectives, and Planning. Use and be familiar with the latest tools and technologies and be at the forefront of innovation. Work with the Product team to ensure highest priority work is scheduled correctly, and that feature delivery achieves the squad’s mission. Be talented, highly motivated, and passionate about software quality and continuously strive to improve your skills and the quality of our software products.

What you’ll need to be successful:

• 2+ years of experience with Functional React (hooks) and Typescript
• Strong skills in state management, especially Redux, Recoil, and React Context
• Ability to debug deployment issues in CICD pipelines in collaboration with DevOps team members
• 5+ years of software development experience
• Ability to deliver high quality front ends in React and Typescript, including server side rendered pages.
• Ability to debug and contribute to api's and services written in Typescript (NodeJS), C# (asp.net core), and related technologies, supported by automated testing (unit, integration, and functional tests).
• Deep Technology skills in one product/platform
• Sound knowledge across multiple sub-domains
• Breaks large requests down into sub-tasks
• Manage multiple competing priorities
• Writes tests and provides guidance for tests
• Sets measurable goals, and meets them
• Reviews code changes
• Mentors new hires
• Assists peers as required
• Contributes to the Community of Practice in their respective Tiers.
• Proactively volunteers for tasks and takes up challenges in the scrum team
• Comfortable presenting to technical audience.
• Participates in cross-departmental discussions

• Experience developing microservices, micro frontends, and working with containers and mono repos.
• Experience leading other team members, directly or indirectly
• Personal project work that is online, or available via GitHub, or other activity supporting the software ecosystem (ex: meetups, StackOverflow participation, etc.)
• Experience applying a strangler pattern to a monolith
• Exposure to / supported the implementation of CI/CD processes or other work to improve team outcomes
• Experience with containerized application development process
• Experience working with and supporting mobile products
