In a nutshell, what is Appt looking for?

The small, dynamic team at Appt is looking for a full stack developer to help change the face of preventative healthcare!

Do you want to code and do good?

Appt is a social enterprise (that means we value social impact alongside profits) that is helping to safeguard the future of the NHS by transforming the delivery of preventative healthcare in the U.K. We started on the front-line in GP surgeries in East London, and have built our solution from the ground up to tackle the real problems facing patients and practices. We use digital technology to make the healthcare appointments that diagnose unforeseen or overlooked conditions, or help patients to manage existing long-term or chronic diseases, easier to access. We’re looking for a full stack developer to help set the technical direction of our company as the first in-house developer.

Ok, maybe you’re interested, but what will you actually be doing?

You will be responsible for turning user requirements into effective features. You will work closely with our growing product and design team to write, score and prioritise stories, and help to define the product development roadmap.

This is a great opportunity to join an early stage start-up and see your skill set and responsibility grow alongside the company.

What skills will you need?

We are looking, first and foremost, for a team-player who would relish the opportunity to muck in and do what is required by the often messy start-ups journey. Beyond this we have a list of must haves:

  • C# .NET development (3+ years)
  • SQL (solid working knowledge and a willingness to learn - 1+ years)
  • Web technologies (HTML, CSS, Javascript - 1+ years)

Nice to haves:

  • Azure or AWS experience
  • Tech for good experience
  • Healthtech experience
  • Agile methodologies
  • An interest in automated testing (unit testing, spec testing etc.)

What will you get in return:

This role will be best suited to a self starter who values the opportunity to help build a product and a business. You will be able to directly influence early stage decisions, including the working environment, the team and the culture. If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, you will also benefit from flexible working (work wherever you feel most productive - UK based only, with the team based in Central London) and 28+ days of annual leave.

OK sounds great! What else do you need to know?

We are looking to have someone in post quickly and we are reading applications as they come in, on a rolling basis. Respond to this post ASAP with an updated CV and a brief covering message explaining your interest - we will be in touch then to invite you to a 20 minute chat over the phone, where we will explain the next steps.

We look forward to hearing from you!
