Orca Scan started life as a simple barcode scanner app to help a teenager with his summer job and evolved into a no-code barcode system used by 20,000 organisations worldwide. We’re a small, agile team working with over 250k users to iterate the product and need a great developer to help implement their feedback.

• Develop new features and fix bugs based on customer feedback
• Build UI components using pure JavaScript & W3C Web Components
• Build REST API-based microservices
• Contribute to architectural design as we scale
• Write automated tests around client/server code to run in CI environments
• Help brainstorm solutions to complex user issues (often with users)
• Mentor junior members of the dev team

• 3-5+ years experience
• An excellent understanding of vanilla JavaScript and the DOM (no frameworks 💪)
• Working knowledge of build and package tools such as NPM & Gulp etc
• Great attention to detail with an open mind to try new things
• Good communications skills (you’ll be troubleshooting with customers)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment 🏃‍♂️
• A desire to keep things incredibly simple

Orca Scan is a B2B SaaS product that makes it easy for anyone to build and deploy an enterprise-scale barcode system without code. Barcodes are all around us, used to track everything from the toothbrush you used this morning to medical implants used to save lives, yet, after 45 years, implementing a barcode system is still overly complex. That’s the problem we’re solving for Apple, Lime, GE and many others.
