We’re changing the animal world, starting with dogs. In the UK alone, over a million dogs are homed every year, with over ⅓ coming from puppy farms (high volume, low welfare breeders). This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced (or senior) developer who cares about animal welfare and is ready to tackle the challenges of an early stage start-up. As the entire product development team (for the near term) you’ll work closely with key stakeholders to solve problems and deliver value to our customers (and dogs). We’re ideally looking for someone that is looking for the next step up in their career and/or is capable of taking on the responsibility this role will need.

You’ll be:

• Product minded - passionate about design, user experience and customers
• A good communicator able to work with technical and non-technical team members

• Curious and confident in asking questions and seeking help
• Willing to take ownership and drive projects from idea to deployment
• Comfortable working with ambiguity and flexible with changing requirements
• Proactive, resourceful and inquisitive - we think empowering a small number of developers is the right way to deliver software

• Work collaboratively with others to plan, implement, release and maintain new features and functionality
• Write good quality, maintainable and testable code
• Ensure the smooth operation of the web application by managing releases and supporting the team as needed
• Play an active role in all team meetings and ceremonies, leading where necessary
• Work across the frontend and backend, writing equally well-formulated code in both areas
• Write technical documentation where necessary

You’ll use:

• 4+ years of professional experience with Python web applications (1-2 years minimum experience of Django is essential including knowledge of how to get the most performance out of it)
• Experience in relational database management
• Experience with AWS
• Experience with the Bootstrap UI framework and Javascript
• Some knowledge of infrastructure and hosting requirements of web applications
• Experience integrating with 3rd party APIs is essential
