WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an experienced technical specialist - Node Js Developer who has previously worked with a range of business systems, is Amazon Web Services (AWS) certified and who enjoys working with a diverse range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You will be working in a team of developers, designers, product strategists and data specialists, to understand the project needs and requirements of a new large-scale social community platform, translate these into back-end system designs, and collaborate with your teammates to bring these ideas to life.

THE ROLE

In a live product development environment you will utilise your strong technical skills and work within a cross-functional teams including UX, creatives and front-end developers.

You will be working within the back-end work stream of a team delivering a green-field community platform - consisting of bespoke components, and will be expected to deliver to high standards and within your technical expertise and experience.

You must have a minimum 3 years of experience in building web applications using Node.Js technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your key responsibility will be designing and building back-end applications and integrating them into both front-end technologies (i.e. via an API layergateway) as well as with source data layers such as databases and data pipelines.

You will be familiar with emerging as well as established Node Js libraries and tooling and able to make informed choices

You will work with the development team to spread knowledge and develop resources

MUST HAVES

3+ years of experience in building web applications using Node. Js technology. Strong background in object oriented development techniques using Node.Js and Typescript. Practical experience with microservice architectures, including best practices and design patterns (e.g. saga, domain segregation) The ability to create REST API backend applications from the group up, from designing the architecture all the way up to and including implementation Extensive experience of working with cloud based environments (AWS) and ideally be AWS certified (Developer or Sol Arch) Technical skills and experience, coupled with emerging technology opportunity awareness, to produce detailed proposals and architectures Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and Agile methodologies Familiarity with performance and security related best practices

NICE TO HAVE

Expert end to end understanding of the delivery of modern web applications (DNS, HTTP, SSL, load-balancing, edge-delivery (CDN) to persistence layers), and how to effectively monitor and measure availability and reliability of web applications. Awareness of security vulnerabilities and mitigation Database design and development (MySQL, MongoDB, or other relational and document databases)
