About the role

We have a unique and exciting opportunity for a Node.js Developer to join our Perth office on a full-time basis. 

As Node.js Developer you will be working on our mission critical platform applications and micro services to facilitate the growth of our feature set. 

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop high-throughput, mission critical applications and micro services for the TrafficGuard product

• Implement solutions in an iterative process using Agile and test-driven development methodologies

• Write well-designed, maintainable code for services that are highly available and fault tolerant - using cutting edge Google Cloud technologies

• Collaborate closely with our Product, Research, DevOps, Data and other Software Engineering Teams

About you

The ideal candidate will be innovative, have great problem solving, analytical and technical skills and an understanding of software development in an agile team environment.

Please note that we are only considering candidates based in Perth.

The ideal candidate will bring with them:

• Tertiary qualifications in either Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline or equivalent experience

• 3+ years experience as a Software Engineer or the ability to demonstrate similar knowledge

• Extensive experience with Node.js, JavaScript and TypeScript

• Experience with unit and integration testing

• Familiarity with version control using Git

• Strong NoSQL database skills

• Experience with JSON and third-party REST APIs

• Outstanding communication skills - comfortable providing support to key internal and external stakeholders

• Ability to clearly explain and document concepts for development teams and non-technical stakeholders

• Strong problem solving skills to achieve the best solution to complex technical challenges

• Ability to self-organise and also be a collaborative team player

 Bonus points if you have experience with:

• Cloud services (Google Cloud, AWS)

• Additional programming languages like Python, Go, Java, .Net or Ruby

• High-throughput Node.js web applications using MVC architecture

• Peer code reviews

• Agile software development

• CI/CD pipelines

• Data Engineering
