THE ROLE:

We are looking for a React Native developer to join our fast-growing team and company. The primary focus initially will be on porting an existing modern web application (React, Next.js, XState, styled components) to React Native. The primary challenges will include:

taking into account all of the configuration requirements that enable the application to be a white-label product sharing code between web applications and React Native code bases

THE WAY WE WORK:

We work flexibly. As such, we are well equipped to work effectively in the current global landscape through strong communication and organization, even with team members across 9 countries and 6 time zones. Our core team is in Vancouver, BC, Canada, though we have key people in other parts of the world including Ireland, Malta, Brazil, and the United States.

Our day-to-day work leverages a Kanban-style rhythm using the latest project management tools, CI/CD, and Slack for team communication. We also love to improve, and hold bi-weekly retrospectives to get everyone's feedback to help amplify what's working for us and eliminate any blockers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Turn our white-label products into React Native iOS / Android applications.
• Architect, build and maintain excellent React Native applications with clean code.
• Implement pixel perfect UIs that match designs.
• Implement clean, modern, smooth animations and transitions that provide an excellent user experience.
• Write unit and integration tests.
• Release applications to the Apple and Google Play stores.
• Work with native modules when required.
• Work as part of a small team, which will include other React developers, a project manager, QA professionals, and a designer.
• Complete two-week sprints, and participate in sprint retrospectives.
• Assist with building estimates.
• Work with modern tools including Teamwork, Slack, GitHub, Google Docs, etc.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 2+ years of professional experience working with React Native
• experience writing TypeScript
• 4+ years of professional software development experience
• Meaningful experience working on large, complex systems
• Ability to take extreme ownership over your work. Every day is a challenge to ensure you are performing to the expectations you and your team have agreed upon, both in regards to estimates and to the general process
• An understanding of React Native best practices and a commitment to following them.
• Ability to work through new and difficult React Native issues and contribute to libraries as needed.
• A positive mindset, attention to detail, and can-do attitude.
• Strong communication skills, both spoken and written.

Extra Credit:

• Experience working with Swift, Objective C, and Java is a plus.
• Ability to create and maintain continuous integration pipelines, facilitating the delivery of React Native applications.
