About the role

The Product Engineering team at Afresh is responsible for building out the suite of products that our customers use every day, whether it’s an individual produce manager looking to order their store’s groceries for the day, corporate supervisors looking to view individual store performance, or everything in between. Grocers rely on these solutions within Afresh’s Fresh Operating System to improve the accuracy and efficiency of their workflows, all contributing to our goal of reducing food waste.

You will be playing a key role in building out these solutions for our customers. Our team and products are growing at a rapid pace, which means that there will be plenty of opportunities for ownership and making your impact felt. Some of your responsibilities will include:

Directly impact our mission of reducing fresh food waste by working on products to enable grocers to better manage and optimize fresh food merchandising and supply chain
Architect and lead the development of web front-end application to meet our scaling needs
Fully own the web frontend domain including creation and execution of vision and strategy, knowledge sharing, cross-team collaboration, process improvement
Partner with our product and design teams to deliver rich and engaging user experiences
Build tools and foundation, such as design systems, to empower multiple teams of engineers and designers to build and iterate on the web application
Mentor and coach engineers of a variety levels of experience

Skills and experience

BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
4+ years experience with front-end web development
Experience acting as a tech lead on complex cross-functional projects
Expert knowledge and experience with Javascript, React, React Native and GraphQL
Experience with architecting and leading the development of highly scaled and reliable web applications
Experience with performance and optimization problems and a demonstrated ability to both diagnose and prevent these problems
Demonstrated capacity to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical, architectural, and/or organizational problems and propose solutions
Demonstrated ability to facilitate cross-team work and knowledge sharing on the web frontend domain across company/department
Proven ability to mentor and coach others resulting in a significant improvement of their capabilities
