What you’ll be doing:

We have a small, highly skilled fully remote technical team led by our experienced CTO. You will join this team in developing the early versions of our lending product, our back office systems and credit decisioning engine. You will be given a lot of ownership, responsibility and freedom. Our tech culture is summarised in two tech blog posts, Koyo Technology Culture – Part 1 and Koyo Technology Culture – Part 2.

Our Tech Stack

Our frontends are built with React and Redux. We use styled-components (and occasionally Material-UI) for our visual components. For code quality we use a light-weight eslint setup, and write tests using Jest and React Testing Library. The backend is primarily in Kotlin using Spring Boot and exposes a REST/JSON API.

On the infrastructure side, we are using Docker orchestrated with Kubernetes on GCP. Terraform is used to define the infrastructure as code. Source code and CI/CD is with GitLab. Gitlab is also used to manage the backlog and our light-weight Kanban process.

Requirements

• This is a senior role and whilst years of experience is often not a good measure it is likely you will have 5+ years of commercial experience.
• Technical excellence with strong experience of React and latest ECMAScript standards Javascript.
• A keen eye for good UX and UI.
• A desire to learn about the business and, with limited guidance, develop elegant solutions from high-level requirements. You will not be "spoon fed" detailed user stories.
• Entrepreneurial and excited about working at an early-stage startup.
• You are passionate about building products that are differentiated by the user experience. But you are also pragmatic – time to market is key.
• You have a growth mindset: You’re excited to learn new things every day and have a passion to inspire and grow.
• Beneficial but not essential: experience in the lending space (or fintech).
• This role is fully remote. Your timezone needs to be within 3 hours of London.
