We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to start in our office in Berlin, Germany!

As a Senior Frontend Engineer in our Live team, you will help shape the architecture of our scheduling and booking systems and to enhance their capabilities while keeping a close focus on maintainability and scalability. You will work in a diverse and fast paced environment with an up-to-date tech stack based on serverless principles and event driven architecture..

You will:

• Architect, design and guide the future direction of core architecture of the Babbel Live frontend application for the web browser and on mobile devices

• Create user interfaces for a smooth user journey between booking and the virtual classroom

• Be part of a user-focused team, who builds end-to-end learning experiences

• Participate, shaping our knowledge-sharing culture: multiplying your impact through thoughtful teaches, mentoring; improving the codebase by proposing ideas to make our code scalable, maintainable and testable; and deliver high-quality software

• Maintain and apply best practices of the technical stack and infrastructure

You have:

• 5+ years experience building scalable and maintainable frontend applications using JavaScript and TypeScript

• Profound experience with React, Redux and styled-components

• Can-do attitude to build MVPs and iterate on them in short cycles

• Testing experience on different levels: unit, integration and E2E - ideally using Cypress, Jest and React Testing Library

Nice to have:

• Experience building server-side applications using Node.JS and TypeScript ideally hosted on AWS

• Understanding of serverless architectures (e.g. AWS Lambda and AWS API Gateway) and event driven architecture

• Experience with NoSQL databases (DynamoDB)

• Sense for good API design and knowledge of third-party API integrations

• Hands-on experience with virtual classroom systems

• Startup experience
