The Role

We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join our Applications Development team. Our goal is to build a unified web application to deliver unique biomedical data and machine learning capabilities directly to the hands of our scientists. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a modern web application stack to solve complex problems as part of collaborative, cross-functional teams.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Deliver new web application features and functionalities for scientists
  • Be a lead developer of our GraphQL server, database and related components
  • Extend our GraphQL and SQL data models to reflect the biomedical domain
  • Collaborate with Biologists, Chemists, ML/AI Scientists and Data Scientists
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in sprint ceremonies, write tickets and/or coordinate work streams
  • Mentor junior team members on modern web application practices
  • Contribute components to our frontend codebases where appropriate
  • Integrate our server with microservices maintained by other internal teams
  • Support on observability and monitoring initiatives
  • Over time, contribute to our long-term engineering strategy
We are looking for someone with:
  • 5+ years of commercial development experience
  • Enthusiasm to explore the biomedical problem domain (no experience expected!)
  • Passion for building maintainable web applications, carefully solving user needs
  • Strong communicator who works well within a team
  • Desire to work with Typescript, GraphQL, Apollo Server, NodeJS, Prisma, MySQL
  • Some relevant experience of CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes or other devops
  • Interest in frontend web development, such as VueJS, HTML and CSS
  • Advocate for good engineering practices, with the pragmatism to assess tradeoffs
