In less than one year since launch, we have experienced massive growth with tens of millions of NFTs created using the Metaplex protocol, facilitating over $3 billion in commerce for developers and creatives of all kinds. Solana's energy efficiency, low cost, and fast transaction speeds provide a unique opportunity now to build a future for NFTs as the infrastructure for an increasingly broad scope of use cases. As of July 2022, one million Metaplex NFTs are minted every 18 days to be featured in gaming, arts & collectibles, marketplaces, developer tools, and more.

At Metaplex, we want to put behind the culture of “chewing glass” and make it easier and more enjoyable for developers to be onboarded to the Solana ecosystem. To satisfy that goal, the Developer Experience team at Metaplex needs developers that are passionate about open-source, great documentation and, overall, enhancing the experience of their fellow developers.

What You'll Do

• Scale Metaplex and NFT solutions to hundreds of millions of people by onboarding developers in a new order of magnitude and empowering them to build cool projects in our ecosystem.
• Improve and maintain the quality standard of the Metaplex engineering teams through the development of reliable, consistent and well-tested services.
• Collaborate on the Metaplex JavaScript SDK that aims to be a battery-included library for any developer that wishes to interact with the Solana blockchain with a focus on Metaplex programs.
• Contribute to a better release cycle of new protocols and protocol updates by working closely with the protocol team, identifying the best way to onboard developers to on-chain programs and executing that plan.
• Write clear documentation that exhaustively describes the feature set of a program or library while making its content enjoyable to read and accessible to less advanced developers.
• Publish engaging technical guides and tutorials to help developers get started with specific concepts so they can apply their new skills to their own projects. We are flexible on the balance between engineering and technical writing.
• Implement various tools and products to enhance the experience of developers in the Solana ecosystem such as autogenerated documentation, interactive guides, etc.
• Be a Developer Advocate for Metaplex to help us reach out to even more developers. Participate in events such as conference talks, Twitter space, office hours, etc. We are flexible on the balance between engineering and developer advocacy.

• What You'll Need To Do It

  • (Essential) You have years of experience in Software Engineering with great knowledge of web development: JavaScript, TypeScript, databases, frontend frameworks, backend frameworks, etc.
  • (Essential) You have an affinity for clean code, consistent APIs and great Software architecture.
  • (Essential) You have experience in building JavaScript libraries targeted for both Node.js and browser environments and are comfortable with some of their quirks: Common JS versus ES modules, web bundlers, dual packages, node module dependencies, etc.
  • (Essential) You are driven by learning new things and using that knowledge to build exciting projects.
  • (Essential) You are able to distill the information you’ve gathered into clear documentation and pleasant guides that will benefit a large portion of the community.
  • (Essential) You have empathy for developers using our tools and are receptive to the community’s concerns while balancing that information with the vision of the company.
  • (Essential) You are passionate about crypto and NFTs and always willing to learn!
  • (Essential) Lastly, and most importantly, your excitement to bring innovation in a trustless world makes you inherently a beacon of positivity for our team and our community.
  • (Desirable) You have experience in creating and maintaining open-source software.
  • (Desirable) As a plus, you are comfortable reading and understanding Rust code in order to gain a greater understanding of the programs created and maintained by the protocol team.
  • (Desirable) You are, ideally, comfortable with how programs are structured in the Solana blockchain and understand how some of the Metaplex programs work. If not, you are excited about getting to know much more about this ecosystem.
  • (Desirable) You are comfortable leading teams and creating project plans with defined tasks that can be delegated to partner engineering teams or junior team members.
