About the Role

As a frontend software engineer in the network infrastructure team, you will have the chance to build a world-class network operating system’s UI framework that enable the automatic network operations on Uber’s global network. You will lead the design of the UI framework, including the user process that deeply integrates network operation insights and the graphical user interface that enables human network engineers to perform complicated daily network operation tasks.

What you'll do

• Design system architecture, own key components to deliver automatic network operation solutions for Uber.

• Join on call rotation, driving continuous improvements on system availability, scalability, performance and efficiency.

• Provide technical leadership, influence fellow engineers, and role model solid engineering practices.

• Collaborate with other infrastructure teams, production engineer team and product manager to drive adoption and outstanding practices, and to design and implement high impact, cross-product features.

What you'll need

• Consistent record of building and operating highly reliable distributed systems at scale.

• This role requires a lot of organizational alignment and consensus building - excellent written and verbal communication skills is a huge plus.

• Experience with OpenTelemetry, and/or building and operating monitoring infrastructure at large scale. E.g. PB sized ES clusters, Prometheus, Kibana, Grafana, Jaeger, etc.

• Batch and stream data process pipeline experience is a plus.

• Passionate about pursuing technical excellence and mentoring engineers.

Basic qualifications:

• 2+ years of professional software development experience

• BS or higher degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.

• Proficient in Javascript/Typescript, CSS, Node.js, Frontend framework. Has proven experience architecting, building, and maintaining web applications

• Excellent coding abilities

• Strong problem-solving skills, with relevant experience in implementing large-scale distributed backend services | web applications with React.
