Digital

Our Digital team works collaboratively to design and deliver innovative technology solutions that assist our clients to create a better future for our cities, regions, communities and the environment. We incorporate software development, data analytics, visualisation, digital engineering, geospatial and cloud into a truly integrated service.

Our recent projects include

  • Newcastle City Intelligent Platform – a smart data brokerage and visualisation platform designed to make smart city data available to all staff within Newcastle City Council. 

  • Online Forms for the NSW Department of Communities and Justice – we design, implement and support a range of complex forms used by applicants for community housing in NSW. 

  • Melbourne Liveability Monitor – as part of the Melbourne Metro Tunnel project, we designed and built a sensor integration platform which receives, aggregates and analyses data from hundreds of sound, vibration, and air quality sensors.  

  • MyRo for VicRoads – we designed and implemented a fully automated, online system that provides real time and credible traffic information during construction works through the use of portable road-side devices 

What you’ll do:

You will be joining a team working on complex web applications with advanced, real-time frontends and backends, integrating and processing hundreds of millions of data points daily. The primary responsibilities of the role include: 

  • Creating user interfaces that ensure end-users can achieve their goals in a simple and enjoyable way. 

  • Researching and driving the adoption of new development technologies. 

  • Designing, building, testing and deploying complex, multi-component JavaScript/Python applications to global clients. 

  • Working in a fast-moving team of smart technology professionals. 

  • Working face to face with clients and business analysts to provide a technical perspective on product decisions.

About you:

  • Computer science degree, minimum at Bachelor’s level with Honours or equivalent experience. Self-taught and the right experience will suffice 

  • Ability to rapidly adapt to new development technologies 

  • Track record of successful software engineering and client support  

  • Extensive experience and employment in the industry (At least Mid-senior level) 

  • Industry qualifications such as AWS certifications highly regarded 

  • Web-based application software development experience with knowledge of the following: 

  • Python  

  • JavaScript, HTML, CSS (mandatory), SASS (desirable) 

  • Django, Webpack, Vue, React, AngularJS (desirable)  

  • Postgres (mandatory), MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, DynamoDB (desirable) 

  • Containerisation – Docker (desirable) 

  • Source Control – Git  

  • Experience in creation and execution of software-based tests  

  • Experience with technical support and troubleshooting of infrastructure supporting client applications
