The Desktop & Web team is responsible for building the full Spotify experience of our Windows, Mac, Linux, and Web Player (browser) desktop clients. We develop the user interface using modern web technologies like React & TypeScript. In 2021 we unified & modernized the technical stack and user experience of our Desktop & Web Player apps and are now creating exciting new features on top of this platform. We are looking for thoughtful, pragmatic, well-rounded engineers experienced in web technologies to join us and help build the future of audio content consumption in our Desktop & Web clients. You will join a healthy and collaborative team, continuously improving our engineering practices and delivering innovative features. All while keeping it fun and caring for you and your work-life balance. Your work will directly impact the way millions of Spotify users experience audio content in their daily lives.

1. Develop and maintain features with TypeScript, React.
2. Work in close collaboration with your engineering, product, data science & design peers.
3. Write robust code, covered with unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
4. Architect and document pragmatic solutions, taking into account the wider family of Spotify’s web-based clients and opportunities for reusability.
5. Integrate with multiple backends using our native container API bindings or internal GraphQL and REST APIs.
6. Run experiments to test innovative features (A/B testing).
7. Improve and evolve our tech stack as needed.
8. Participate in defining the team’s ways of working.
9. Participate in code reviews.
10. You’ll be part of a distributed group that is located in CEST and EST time zones.

1. You have a solid foundation of computer science concepts (i.e. data structures and algorithms) and good engineering practices.
2. You have strong fundamentals in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS and proven experience in modern React development.
3. Experience building web products at scale in a high-growth consumer-facing environment.
4. You have attention to detail and for providing delightful user experiences.
5. You are eager to learn and grow.
6. Can balance personal ambitions with business needs, and you’re always willing to prioritize what is needed to move the product forward.
7. You enjoy collaborating closely with peers to develop features.
8. You work well with multi-functional, agile software development teams.
