The Opportunity
Nearwater is building the internal capability to turn AI from a curiosity into a competitive advantage. As our AI Enablement Engineer, you will sit at the intersection of technology and the business, embedding with departments across the firm to understand how they work and then building working AI-powered solutions that change how they operate. This is not a pure engineering role and it is not a pure training role. It is the role that bridges both. You will prototype quickly, deploy practically, and teach others to do more themselves. You are equally comfortable in a conversation with a senior trader about what slows their process down and at a keyboard building a workflow that solves it. The goal is not to write production software. The goal is to make every team at Nearwater measurably better at their jobs through the intelligent use of AI. Today that means Claude, our current LLM, though our platform will continue to evolve to include other frontier and open-source models over time. What you learn from end users along the way will directly shape where the platform goes next.
What You'll Do
Discover and Build
- Embed with business units to develop a detailed understanding of their workflows, inefficiencies, and highest-value problems
- Rapidly prototype AI-powered solutions using the Claude API, prompt engineering, and workflow automation tools
- Build and iterate on internal tools, templates, and integrations that departments can adopt immediately
- Design and document reusable patterns and playbooks that scale your impact beyond individual engagements
Enable and Teach
- Run hands-on workshops and pairing sessions that move teams from passive users to active builders
- Develop prompt templates, skill libraries, and how-to guides tailored to each team's specific use cases
- Partner with the AI Enablement Specialist and department leads to prioritize and sequence where AI delivers the most value
- Support the rollout of new platform features and capabilities across the firm with practical demonstrations and training
Operate and Improve
- Track and report on adoption, performance, and impact of deployed solutions
- Maintain a feedback loop with end users, feeding what you learn back to help shape the direction of the platform itself
- Become deeply knowledgeable in our rapidly evolving platform, currently built on Claude, and stay current as it expands to other frontier and open-source models over time
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in a technical role such as solutions engineering, technical product management, internal tools, or applied AI
- Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs, particularly Claude or OpenAI, including prompt engineering and agent design
- Ability to write working code in Python or JavaScript at a prototyping level, not production engineering
- Strong instincts for workflow design and process improvement, with the ability to translate business problems into technical solutions
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to earn credibility with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Familiarity with the Claude API, system prompts, and context engineering is strongly preferred
How You Work
- You build fast and share freely.
- You are not precious about your prototypes and you know the point is adoption, not elegance.
- You are as comfortable in a business conversation as you are in a code editor.
- You ask good questions before you build anything, and you know that the best solution is often the simplest one someone will actually use.
- You take ownership of outcomes, not just deliverables.
What You'll Get
- The opportunity to build Nearwater's AI infrastructure from the ground up with real autonomy and visibility
- Direct engagement with senior leadership, trading desks, and operations teams across the firm
- A role where your work is immediately visible and the feedback loop between building and impact is short
- Participation in firmwide technology initiatives and the ability to shape Nearwater's AI roadmap
