Engineering Manager
We are currently supporting one of our clients, a fast-growing Canadian HealthTech company, in the search for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead their engineering team.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced software engineer who enjoys both building products and leading people.
You won't be stepping away from the code: this position is approximately 50% hands-on engineering and 50% team leadership & management.
๐ฏ What you'll be doing
You'll take ownership of the engineering function, working closely with the CEO and wider business to:
Write, review and ship production code
Shape technical architecture and engineering decisions
Lead, coach and develop the software engineering team
Own sprint execution, agile delivery and roadmap planning
Maintain high standards around DevOps, CI/CD, reliability, privacy and security
Work closely with Product, Sales, Customer Success and other stakeholders
Support hiring and development of the engineering team
Translate technical decisions into clear business outcomes

Experience with the following is highly relevant: Go / Golang ยท React ยท PostgreSQL ยท AWS
Experience with this exact stack is an asset rather than an absolute requirement; we're primarily looking for someone with strong engineering fundamentals who remains genuinely hands-on with modern web applications.
๐ค We're looking for someone who has
5+ years of professional software engineering experience
Recent hands-on experience writing production code
Experience with software architecture and technical decision-making
Leadership experience as an Engineering Manager, Tech Lead or Team Lead
Experience coaching and mentoring engineers
Strong understanding of agile product delivery
Experience in a startup or fast-moving technology environment
Excellent communication skills in English
The ability to work autonomously and take ownership quickly
First-time Engineering Managers with strong technical leadership experience are also encouraged to apply.

๐ Full Remote
โฐ 40 hours/week, covering Halifax / Atlantic time business hours
๐ Start: August 31, 2026
๐ Contract: Full-time fixed term, approximately 12โ14 months (parental leave coverage)
๐๏ธ Vacation: 20 days, prorated in the first year
The role reports directly to the CEO and comes with significant ownership from day one.
