About the Role
Join a small, high-caliber team building AI-powered video technology. As a founding backend engineer, you will lead the design of core systems and set a high bar for technical quality as the product and engineering team grow.
What You'll Do
Design and develop scalable backend systems that power AI video creation.
Build infrastructure for agentic workflows, video generation pipelines, reinforcement learning loops, and real-time data processing.
Own distributed systems architecture and improve reliability through automated testing, performance benchmarking, and end-to-end observability.
Partner with researchers, engineers, and designers to develop product features and APIs.
Write production-quality code, set technical direction and engineering guidelines, and raise team standards.
Document technical decisions and define agent skills for a fast-moving engineering team.
What We're Looking For
Five to ten years of backend software engineering experience, including work at a startup or high-growth company.
Industry experience building scalable backend systems, distributed systems, large-scale data processing, information retrieval, and asynchronous workflows.
At least 12 months of hands-on industry experience designing agentic systems or working with LLMs and generative AI.
Professional experience with TypeScript and AWS; experience with S3, Lambda, RDS, SQS, ECS, FastAPI, Docker, and CI/CD is relevant.
Strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and system design, applied in professional backend engineering work.
Experience acting as a technical lead, setting direction and code standards while contributing code.
