About the Role
Join an early-stage AI company building a platform for commercial real estate, as its first dedicated engineering hire. Working closely with the CTO and a small team, you will build portfolio research and agentic workflow systems that help institutional owners manage complex operations.
What You'll Do
Build and own the portfolio research and chat interface, enabling clients to query portfolio data, generate work products, and run multi-step analyses.
Design and ship agentic workflows for real estate operations, including structured extraction, tool-calling systems, and reliable multi-step AI pipelines.
Develop production infrastructure for LLM systems, including evaluations, observability, context construction, structured outputs, failure handling, and monitoring.
Work with clients and domain experts to identify automation opportunities and deliver features from initial problem discovery through production.
Partner with the CTO to become the independent owner of a platform area and respond directly to customer needs.
What We're Looking For
One to three years of experience as a software engineer, founding engineer, or founding AI engineer, with a four-year degree.
Strong backend engineering skills in Python, plus experience with TypeScript, React, and AWS.
Hands-on experience building LLM agents, tool-calling systems, multi-step AI workflows, and reliable agent architectures, including context management and nondeterminism.
Understanding of retrieval-augmented generation and experience designing relational data models for complex, hierarchical data.
Experience building B2B AI products or document processing systems at scale, and owning production software in a high-stakes B2B environment.
Ability to own platform features end-to-end, work effectively without detailed specifications, and communicate proactively.
