Mason - Accelerating development of the built world
Mason is on a mission to accelerate the development of the built world. We are tackling some of the most pressing challenges of our time - housing shortages, energy constraints, and decaying infrastructure - all of which are exacerbated by the slow pace of physical development.
This is one of the largest, least-modernized markets in the world. Trillions in spending, and much of the work still runs on spreadsheets, documents, and manual processes.
We create AI systems that transform some of the largest firms in the world.
A core part of this work is building the company brain: turning decades of fragmented documents, databases, emails, and operational knowledge into connected data and context that AI agents can actually use.
We're growing fast - we have an 8-figure pipeline of projects and are looking for great engineers to join our team.
Our founding team comprises a repeat founder who exited to a Fortune 500, a former tech lead at Meta Superintelligence who co-created Meta AI, and a development director who built $2B+ of projects.
The Role
You'll be the engineer who takes a customer's most important operational problem and turns it into software they use every day. This is a forward-deployed engineering role: you'll work directly with customers, learn their business, and build the agents, integrations, and applications that change how they operate.
You'll own the work from the first conversation through production and ongoing improvement. That means sitting with the people doing the work, understanding their data and constraints, making architecture decisions, writing code, and finding out whether the system actually delivers the result they need.
This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role. You won't be waiting for specs. You'll earn trust with operators, IT teams, and executives, decide what needs to be built, and build it end to end. You'll also turn what you learn into reusable tools and product improvements so every deployment makes Mason better.
What you'll build
Production AI agents that own real estate and development workflows end to end
Customer integrations, backend services, and data pipelines that connect Mason to the systems teams already use
Customer-facing applications in Next.js and TypeScript that make complex workflows straightforward to use
Agent logic, retrieval, tools, and human review controls designed around the customer's actual work
Evaluation and regression checks that catch incorrect outputs, broken integrations, and workflow failures before rollout
Production deployments that you debug, monitor, and improve using customer feedback and measured business outcomes
Reusable components and deployment patterns developed alongside our Data and Infrastructure engineers
Tech stack and tools
Relevant experience includes:
Languages and backend: Python, TypeScript, Node.js, SQL
Data platforms and pipelines: PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Databricks, Amazon Redshift, dbt
AI and agents: Anthropic and OpenAI APIs, Claude Agent SDK, Vercel AI SDK, LangGraph, MCP
Retrieval and memory: pgvector, Cohere, Hindsight, RAG pipelines
Workflows and compute: Inngest, Temporal, Blaxel, Modal
Cloud and infrastructure: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform
We value experience building production systems with these or comparable technologies.
What we're looking for
At least four years of software engineering experience, with a track record shipping production systems used by real customers
Strong backend or full-stack engineering skills: you can design, code, integrate, and debug an application end to end
Good product intuition and taste, with the ability to turn an ambiguous business problem into a useful technical solution
Comfort working directly with customers and communicating clearly with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders
The judgment to define success, manage scope, and make tradeoffs while staying accountable for the outcome
High ownership and high agency: you investigate the problem, make decisions, and keep moving when there isn't an established playbook
Willingness to travel and work from customer offices, primarily in North America, with engagements expanding into Europe and Latin America
Experience with forward-deployed engineering, enterprise product development, complex integrations, or production AI agents is a strong plus
Real estate or construction experience is helpful. Curiosity, technical depth, and the ability to learn how a customer's business works matter more.
