We are looking for a thoughtful, collaborative Full Stack Engineer to join our growing, distributed team at Coforma.
Our Full Stack Engineers enjoy tackling complex problems while working with other members of our cross-disciplinary teams to deliver elegant products across a modern technology stack. They are skilled across the stack, building accessible applications that put people first with code that is clean, maintainable, well-documented, and well-tested.

$119,768 to $149,215 Annual Salary + Benefits + Growth Potential
Placement within this range will be based on the competency level of the candidate. An offer will be made at one of the following tiers:

- Tier 1 — $119,768.40: Meets stated qualification and experience requirements. May need guidance and training beyond onboarding to perform the more complex functions of the role.
- Tier 2 — $134,492.10: Experienced and fully competent. Will be able to independently perform key responsibilities of the role once onboarding is completed.
- Tier 3 — $149,215.80: Highly experienced and can perform all responsibilities of the role at a higher level than expected once onboarding is completed.
To honor our company-wide equitable pay system, the posted salary range and corresponding tier salaries are non-negotiable.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
You'll be working on building a large case management system for a government client. This system is already in development and supports a variety of user roles and permissions. A typical day would include the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Write and review code, ensuring high standards of quality, maintainability, and test coverage
- Solve problems across the tech stack alongside other engineers on the team, building new systems and improving existing ones
- Consistently apply best practices, including a focus on accessibility
- Collaborate with team members and government/client stakeholders to craft creative solutions and build technology products that improve the lives of those in the communities they serve
- Engage with coworkers across disciplines according to agile and scrum methodologies, including participating in planning, breaking down requirements into tasks, refinement, and estimation, etc.
What You Know (Knowledge and Skill Requirements)
On this project, you'll be working on a multi-service platform built around Java/Spring services, a shared library, and a Next.js UI. The following knowledge and skills are required for this role:
- Java and Spring Boot
- Backend API development
- REST APIs
- Testing and Quality
- JUnit 5, Mockito, MockMvc, Spring Boot test support
- Ability to write and maintain unit/integration tests for API and security behavior
- Comfortable with CI validation and regression prevention
- Front-end testing with Jest and/or Testing Library
- DevOps and Deployment
- Docker
- Vault secret management
- GitLab CI/CD and environment configuration
- Frontend
- Next.js
- React and TypeScript
- Material UI
- Form handling, API clients, and GraphQL/REST integration
- Understanding of environment variables and deployment configuration
- Semantic HTML
- Securing applications with authentication / authorization
- GraphQL usage and schema-driven client/server integration
- Database migrations with Flyway
Team and Delivery expectations include:
- Knowledge of Agile and Scrum development methodologies
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Knowledge of Section 508 and accessibility best practices
- Ability to write clear code and tests
- Ability to deliver polished, scalable, maintainable, performant code
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience using coding agents such as CoPilot or Claude Code
- 3+ years of experience building applications with open-source programming languages
- 3+ years of experience working with modern frameworks, libraries, or runtimes
- 3+ years of experience working with APIs and databases of various types
- 3+ years of experience working with infrastructure tools and Infrastructure as Code
- Experience with Kubernetes, DataDog, and Helm charts
- Experience developing software in a remote environment
- Experience in digital services, government, or federal consulting
