What are we looking for?
As a Lead Software Developer on the Platform team, you will serve as a senior technical leader for the core services, APIs, and data layer that our products are built on. You will take ownership of complex, cross-cutting technical work — designing and building scalable TypeScript services, modeling and optimizing the relational data layer, and architecting cloud solutions on AWS. This role sets technical direction for the platform, raises the engineering bar through code review and mentorship, and partners closely with architecture, product, and DevOps to deliver reliable, performant, and secure software at scale.
Shift/Schedule: 8-5 Mountain Time
Salary & Benefits Information
In addition to competitive compensation packages, when working with Intertek you can expect benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) with company match, generous vacation / sick time (PTO), tuition reimbursement and more.
What you’ll do:
- Provide technical leadership by overseeing platform development, setting engineering standards, driving architectural decisions, and ensuring high-quality, secure, and maintainable code through code reviews and best practices.
- Lead platform engineering by designing, developing, and maintaining scalable platform services, shared libraries, and APIs using TypeScript and Node.js.
- Mentor and grow engineering talent by guiding developers, resolving complex technical challenges, and driving technical debt reduction and refactoring initiatives.
- Build and optimize cloud and data solutions by designing AWS-based services, managing databases, optimizing SQL performance, executing migrations, and ensuring scalable data architecture.
- Ensure platform reliability and security by improving observability, performance, scalability, incident response, authentication, authorization, and data protection across the platform.
- Define API and deployment standards by establishing REST API contracts, versioning strategies, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and deployment best practices in partnership with DevOps.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, scope projects, estimate work, translate business needs into technical solutions, and ensure successful product delivery.
- Champion software quality by partnering with QA, documenting technical decisions and architecture, supporting production operations, and continuously improving platform stability.
- Contribute to Agile delivery by actively participating in Scrum ceremonies, identifying risks, demonstrating completed features, and communicating customer value during Sprint Reviews.
- Promote continuous learning and business awareness by staying current with emerging technologies, understanding the competitive landscape, completing required training, and supporting additional organizational needs as required.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent experience) with 8+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership and ownership of complex systems.
- Technical Expertise: Expert in TypeScript, Node.js, REST APIs, AWS cloud services, relational databases (MySQL preferred), SQL optimization, software architecture, and modern development best practices.
- Development & DevOps: Experience with front-end technologies, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Git/GitHub, and designing scalable, secure, and maintainable applications.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Proven ability to mentor engineers, solve complex technical problems, communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and thrive in Agile, cross-functional environments.
- Professional Skills: Detail-oriented, customer-focused, adaptable to changing priorities, committed to quality and safety, with strong organizational, communication, and time management skills, and willingness to travel as needed.
