Position Description:
Drives modernization efforts across systems by spearheading cloud-native transformations, including container orchestration, distributed event-driven architectures, and advanced Application Programming Interface (API) lifecycle. Guides end-to-end engineering practices by defining enterprise coding standards, performance engineering guidelines, and operational excellence patterns. Designs highly scalable, fault-tolerant microservices platforms and ensures alignment with domain-driven design principles at the portfolio level. Designs secure-by-default frameworks, zero-trust integrations, and advanced Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) automation patterns. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in architecture design teams.
- Defines and implements application-level architecture.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
- Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
- Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
- Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
- Plans and coordinates complex project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
- Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
- Advises senior management on technical strategy.
- Mentors junior team members.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing batch services, Rest APIs, and Web application frameworks using Java, J2EE, or Angular, and Cloud services platforms at an enterprise level.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing batch services, Rest APIs, and Web application frameworks using Java, J2EE, or Angular, and Cloud services platforms at an enterprise level.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
· Demonstrated Expertise designing and building Java based platforms and web applications with Spring batch, and Spring boot, Angular, and ORM frameworks including Mybatis or JPA (for database connectivity); using Azure cloud services and Docker images that can be deployed into a containerized and cloud agnostic environment, to maintain high availability and a scalable environment; and building Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) using DevOps tools -- GitHub, Jenkins, UDeploy, or Veracode.
· Demonstrated Expertise performing project estimation and release activities (estimating and assigning) using JIRA, and change management using ServiceNow; and preparing release and install plans, and deployments to production using UDeploy.
· Demonstrated Expertise designing, developing, implementing, and auditing privacy solutions on websites using OneTrust, Ensighten, and VaultJS privacy products to comply with enterprise legal and compliance requirements.
· Demonstrated Expertise facilitating efficient software development while ensuring compliance with established coding standards and best practices, utilizing GitHub Copilot within Visual Studio Code.
