We are seeking a technical leader and hands-on developer to drive the design and delivery of innovative, custom-built applications within a modern Microsoft-centric environment. This role supports a growing team of developers focused on delivering scalable, AI-enabled solutions for complex business challenges.
The position centers on the rapid development of custom applications using modern technologies such as React, .NET, and the Microsoft Power Platform, combined with the integration of advanced AI/ML capabilities through Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI services, and related platforms. The Senior Engineer will play a key role in architecting and delivering intelligent applications, including copilots, chatbots, predictive models, intelligent automation, and AI-assisted decision-support tools.
Beyond core development, this role contributes to the integration and operationalization of AI/ML systems—covering model consumption, inference integration, and intelligent workflows within production applications. The Senior Engineer is also responsible for deploying, managing, and optimizing applications across cloud environments, including Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS), and works closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into secure, scalable, high-impact technical solutions.
Responsibilities
1. Provides guidance and mentorship to other developers on coding best practices, software architecture, and development methodologies. Leads design reviews and ensures the technical quality of the team's output. Responsible for leading the software development team and schedule of development.
2. Leads technical support and configuration management for custom-developed solutions across the district, and creates and maintains comprehensive technical documentation, including quarterly release notes, to ensure optimal performance, successful adoption, and user satisfaction.
3. Stays current with emerging technologies with a strong emphasis on AI/ML and intelligent systems; designs, implements, and integrates AI-powered solutions—such as chatbots, copilots, predictive analytics, automation workflows, and AI-assisted decision tools using Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI services, or similar platforms—to enhance operational and instructional outcomes.
4. Designs, develops, and maintains web applications across the full stack, including front-end, back-end, and database layers.
5. Partners with product managers and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
6. Builds responsive, accessible user interfaces using Angular, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
7. Designs, develops, and maintains RESTful APIs and backend services using C# / ASP.NET Core, including authentication and authorization (OAuth 2.0, JWT).
8. Designs, implements, and optimizes relational database structures using SQL Server and/or Azure SQL, including stored procedures and query performance tuning.
9. Manages source code and collaborates with the team using Git, Azure DevOps, GitHub, or similar version control tools.
10. Deploys, configures, and maintains applications on Microsoft Azure or AWS, including building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
11. Contributes to Agile delivery by actively participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
12. Writes and maintains automated tests, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, to ensure application quality and reliability.
13. Troubleshoots, debugs, and resolves production issues related to application performance, integrations, and system interoperability.
14. Participates in code reviews and maintains technical documentation to support long-term maintainability.
15. Ensures compliance with HIPAA and applicable healthcare data security and privacy requirements when designing, developing, and deploying Medicaid-related solutions.
16. Collaborates with Business Analysts and QA Testers to validate that delivered solutions meet Medicaid program and healthcare data requirements prior to release.
