Job Description:
The Software & Systems Engineer SME is not just a developer — but the technical authority on a specific domain, such as embedded systems, cloud infrastructure, network integration, or mission critical software. The individual will work across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance, ensuring that solutions meet both technical and business needs. The individual will lead technical design and development efforts to deliver a complete software solution.
The work you'll do:
- Lead design and implement all levels of the solution: data layer, application code, user interface. Lead design and deliver APIs and integrations with other software systems and databases.
- Architect for optimal use of enterprise infrastructure (cloud) and security requirements.
- Lead technical integration efforts with other partner organizations.
Here's what you'll need:
- 10+ years of experience delivering the design and development of software applications.
- Experience in the following areas:
- Programming/coding from the data layer through the application layer, through the user interface.
- Decomposing functional requirements into technical specifications and tasks.
- Software development and maintenance tools and languages such as Python, Java, SQL, JavaScript libraries, HTML, etc.
- Database and data management and analytics technologies, such as SQL, DynamoDB, JSON, XML, R, etc.
- Containerization.
- Developing and maintaining unit test scripts.
- Developing APIs and web services for integration between systems and data sets.
- Leading collaboration efforts.
- Agile / Scrum software development.
Security clearance:
- Active TS/SCI with Poly security clearance is required.

The base pay range for this position in these locations is shown below.
