Description
The Apple Video Services engineering team is responsible for building the backend services critical to the Apple TV app, which is the central hub to watch various pieces of content (Movies, TV shows, Sporting events) including those from Apple streaming service: Apple TV+. The team builds and operates services handling web-scale traffic, with a strong focus on resiliency and observability to ensure the reliability and uptime of the Apple TV experience. The team also supports the Apple TV browse experience and enables the onboarding of new content and experiences onto the platform. You will be working on a team valuing collaboration, design discussions and constructive code reviews. A successful candidate will be someone willing to learn and happy to understand while challenging the existing. As a member of the team, you will be encouraged to propose, design and implement solutions, while taking ownership of critical components of the stack. You will commit yourself to writing high-quality, well-tested and maintainable code. You will consider exploring new technologies and apply creative solutions to problems.
Minimum Qualifications
3+ years of industry experience building systems and delivering internet services at scale Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field Experience with Java, JVM technologies, and runtime configurations Experience working in Linux or Unix environments, including performance tuning for resources such as memory and disk Basic understanding of Kubernetes
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building and working with systems such as containers, message queues (e.g. Kafka), and server-side technologies (e.g. Jetty) Experience with NoSQL, relational, or big data technologies (e.g. Hadoop, MongoDB/CouchDB, Spark) Deeper understanding of modern Java concepts, including virtual threads Infrastructure knowledge spanning networks, CDNs, and load balancers Experience with application/software design and API development using technologies such as Java, JavaScript, and HTML5 In-depth knowledge of large-scale distributed systems A strong inclination to deep dive into complex issues, combined with persistence and grit
