Software Development Manager

We're looking for a Software Development Manager to lead and develop a team of engineers responsible for building reliable, scalable, and engaging digital experiences that support our travel brands and customers. This role combines technical leadership with people leadership, guiding a high-performing development team while partnering closely with Product, QA, Project Management, and Engineering stakeholders to deliver exceptional customer-facing web solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers, supporting their technical growth, career development, and overall performance.

Provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle, from solution design through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.

Guide architectural discussions and technical decision-making to ensure scalable, secure, maintainable, and high-performing applications.

Drive engineering best practices including code quality, automated testing, Agile delivery, and continuous improvement.

Partner cross-functionally with Product, QA, Project Management, and Engineering teams to deliver customer-focused digital solutions.

Monitor engineering and operational metrics to improve delivery predictability, software quality, and system reliability.

Support cloud-based application development and deployment using Microsoft Azure.

Help evaluate technical tradeoffs, delivery risks, and implementation strategies while balancing business priorities and long-term sustainability.

Foster a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive engineering culture that encourages continuous learning and improvement.
Qualifications

7+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years leading or managing software engineering teams.

Experience developing customer-facing web applications and services using Next.js, React, and C#.

Strong understanding of modern software design principles, including SOLID principles, Domain-Driven Design, and common design patterns.

Experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms.

Proven experience coaching, mentoring, and developing software engineers.

Strong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while driving continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
Total Rewards
The base salary range for this role is $170,000 - $180,000 annually for employees based in Boston, MA. Final compensation may vary and will be determined based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, internal equity, and geographic location.
