If you’re passionate about being part of a dynamic organization that enables a Fortune 100 company with nearly $70 billion in annual sales to drive innovation and adopt new technologies that deliver business results, then Nationwide’s Technology team could be the place for you! At Nationwide®, “on your side” goes beyond just words. Our customers are at the center of everything we do and we’re looking for associates who are passionate about delivering extraordinary care.

Specialist, Software Engineer – IBM ACE & ETL (Integration Specialist)

Build the connections that keep Commercial Lines moving

Nationwide Technology is looking for a technically curious, delivery-focused Specialist Software Engineer to strengthen and modernize the integrations that power Commercial Lines. In this role, you will design, build, test, troubleshoot, and support enterprise integration solutions using Informatica ETL, IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE), IBM MQ, REST and SOAP services, databases, microservices, and API platforms such as Apigee.

You will work at the intersection of real-time messaging, API orchestration, data transformation, and batch processing. Your work will help move policy transaction data securely and reliably between PolicyCenter, internal applications, downstream platforms, vendors, and regulatory consumers.

This is an opportunity to bring fresh energy to critical integration capabilities while improving reliability, observability, maintainability, and developer experience.

The Integration Layer: ACE and Informatica ETL

ACE and Informatica ETL are complementary capabilities within the Commercial Lines Integration Layer. ACE supports real-time application, messaging, API, and service integration, while Informatica ETL extracts, transforms, and loads data across operational systems, analytical processes, files, vendors, and downstream consumers. This position is designed for an engineer who wants to develop a broad integration skillset by executing work across both disciplines.

You will build expertise in designing dependable data movement patterns end to end: receiving and parsing messages, orchestrating APIs and services, extracting data from source systems, applying business and data-quality transformations, loading curated outputs, and supporting the operational flow across environments.

How you’ll make an impact

The strongest candidate will be comfortable moving between detailed technical analysis and end-to-end business outcomes. You will trace a transaction from its originating application through ACE, MQ, APIs, Informatica ETL workflows, databases, and downstream consumers; identify where a message, mapping, transformation, load, or data-quality control went wrong; and implement a durable solution rather than a temporary workaround.

Success means developing a versatile Integration Layer skillset across ACE and Informatica ETL; delivering stable, secure, well-documented integrations; improving the quality and reliability of message flows, APIs, mappings, and data pipelines; reducing avoidable production issues; and helping the team adopt modern integration patterns that make future change easier.

Work Arrangement: This role follows a hybrid schedule and requires in-office presence in Columbus, Ohio, Des Moines, IA or Scottsdale, AZ two days per week.
