ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

General description of main/primary duties and responsibilities of the job, aptitude, level of complexity, span of control, autonomy, decision making and judgement. It is central and necessary to the satisfactory performance of the job. Includes the following and other duties as assigned.

Under general supervision, this position will:

  • Design, build, and deliver end-to-end full-stack applications on the modern .NET platform (.NET 8/10, C#, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core) spanning web front-ends, desktop/fat-client apps, Web APIs, and data layers.
  • Build responsive web UIs with React/TypeScript and/or Blazor, and modern Windows desktop clients (WPF, WinUI 3, .NET MAUI, or Blazor Hybrid), backed by SQL Server.
  • Own architecture and design decisions from discovery through release, balancing scalability, performance, security, and long-term maintainability.
  • Integrate AI-assisted/agentic coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex) into daily delivery, establish team norms, and review standards for AI-generated code.
  • Evaluate the rapidly evolving AI tooling landscape and make data-driven recommendations that help shape the organization’s AI development roadmap.
  • Stand up and mature the SDLC—source control, branching, PR/code review, CI/CD, testing, and release/change management—in an environment where formal process is still developing.
  • Define and document engineering standards, solution patterns, and reference architectures the broader team can adopt.
  • Act as a hands-on technical lead by facilitating discovery sessions, reviewing pull requests, coordinating releases, and mentoring developers and analysts.
  • Set the bar for external consultancies and staff-augmentation partners, ingest and harden consultant, and AI-/vibe-coded solutions to engineering standards and bring them under the formal SDLC.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Experience, Licensure (minimum level required)

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Field of Study: Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
  • At least ten (10) years of professional software engineering experience delivering large, complex applications end-to-end.
  • Experience maturing SDLC and engineering standards and managing external consultancies to a defined quality bar.
  • Senior-level command of modern .NET, C#, ASP.NET Core, EF Core, React/TypeScript, Blazor, SQL Server, and modern desktop technologies.
  • Strong front-end experience with React and JavaScript/TypeScript and/or Blazor, plus hands-on desktop/fat-client experience (WPF, WinUI 3, .NET MAUI, or Blazor Hybrid).

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Strong grasp of software and Azure cloud architectures, modernization patterns, integration/APIs, database design, performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Practical proficiency with AI-assisted and agentic development tools and the ability to evaluate emerging AI tools, models, and frameworks.
  • Strong SQL Server skills (T-SQL, stored procedures, views, performance tuning) and PostgreSQL.
  • Microsoft Azure (App Service, Azure SQL, PaaS, Foundry, APIM), Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, ARM, or Terraform), and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) , automated testing, and SDLC discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to hold external consultancies and internal contributors accountable to a consistent quality bar.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a modernization/transformation environment and can define standards in a fast-evolving setting.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a bias for ownership, automation, and pragmatic delivery.
  • Acts as a hands-on technical leader, reviewer, and standards champion for developers, analysts, and external partners. Able to mentor peers and collaborate across business stakeholders, IT leadership, and external partners.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities.

HOURS / SHIFTS

  • Regular business hours.
  • Available for on-call responsibilities on weekends and holidays for urgent issues or emergencies during off hours, as needed.
