Overview
This role is critical for accelerating marketing, sales, and servicing gains and the company's industry-leading position by bringing incremental software changes to market. The ideal candidate is an industry-proven, hands-on, large-scale, senior leader of DevOps and Cloud Engineering by trade specializing in, containerization, serverless architecture, cloud migration, and the automation of CI/CD pipelines for unimpeded high-velocity deployment of software changes across the entire company.
Responsibilities
- Owns 100% of DevOps Engineering architecture and the blueprint for its continuous adaptation across the entire company. Provides technical oversight for all 3-4 DevOps and Cloud Engineers implementing blueprinted changes. Ensures DevOps and Cloud engineering team technical compliance with design patterns and overall software standards.
- Provides technical leadership and hands-on development direction for a team of 3-4 engineers responsible for building out new CI/CD on-premise and cloud pipelines for the organization. Evaluates and selects a suite of technologies to support on-premise and cloud CI/CD across all ADSD teams. Creates strategies for SCM & merge, build & branching, artifactory, code scanning, deployment, unit test automation, functional API and UI test automation, containerization, and orchestration. Continuously improves the overall agile software change management function across the enterprise.
- Leads peer teams within the Application Development and Solutions Delivery (ADSD) department by creating detailed technical designs for DevOps and Cloud expansion. Devises and executes a roadmap including on-premise containerization and migration to a serverless cloud architecture for the purpose of lowering ADSD TCO and improving the rate at which software changes can be delivered to market.
- Provides hands-on direction to team members individually managing product and sprint backlogs as needed to deliver DevOps and cloud roadmaps. Ultimately accountable for sustaining and accelerating the delivery velocity of the entire team by effectively adapting people, processes, and technology to maximize value for the company within departmental and project budgets.
- Guides teams and individually performs hands-on discovery, design, scripting, and development to deliver value through DevOps and Cloud engineering. Responsible for hiring, evaluating performance, coaching, cultivating training plans and assigning work to all direct and indirect reports to meet all new work demand.
- Responsible for estimating new work and supplying employee and external contractors to meet demand for DevOps and Cloud enhancements. Satisfies all new work demand within funding based on those work estimates.
- Works to modify and align the organizational design with the changing DevOps and Cloud technical landscape.
- Steers teams using all people, process and technology advantages across the company.
- Ensures teams and individually adheres to all designs, policies, procedures and standards for data security and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications
- Master's Degree M.S. Computer Science - Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree may be acceptable if accompanied by other technical training, relevant certifications, or extensive experience in positions that demonstrate the required abilities and performance. - Required
- Typically requires at least 15 years as the technical lead of a similar-sized DevOps and Cloud engineering team. - Required
- Typically requires 7 years as a technical lead for a team of DevOps and Cloud engineers utilizing Scrum and supporting tools (JIRA). - Required

Work Setting/Position Demands:
- Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
- Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
- Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Travel Requirements:
- 5% travel Semi-annual on-site travel to work in offices located in White Plains, NY (Gerber Life HQ), Fremont MI (Gerber Life Operations) and / or Cincinnati, OH (Western and Southern Financial Group HQ).
