Responsible for assessing systems, determining problems, providing solutions to issues that arise, designing systems, upgrading systems, maintaining systems and brainstorming possible improvement that can be made to a system in the future.
- Engage in project related task assisting but no limited to system design and architecture, system resiliency, scalability while maintaining case of maintenance and low complexity.
- VMWare stack maintenance and project support for the direct assistance of VITAS IT initiatives and operations.
- Direct responsibility to monitor and respond to performance events (downtime, degradation, optimization, etc.) of virtual machines, containers and underlying hardware.
- Direct responsibility to maintain (add/remove/edits) of virtual machines, container clusters, container services, etc.
- Direct responsibility to review security events with regards to data-center services and engage with the security team when action is needed.
- Management (creation/removal) of resources related virtual storage, secondary storage, data replication services, backups, etc.
- Creation of AD related PowerShell and Linux shell scripts to assist other teams in the enterprise.
- When needed, create API based automation scripts to reduce repetitive system administration work items.
- Assist in the operation, maintenance and administration on Kubernetes clusters and Microsoft Cloud Administration (M365 and Azure).
- Responsible to maintain server OS Windows updates list via automation tool (Ivanti Preferred).
- Responsible to review, respond or escalate actionable log events from data-center servers to prevent downtime.
- Collaborating with a variety of people, such as IT teams members, vendors, management and other supporting staff during the creation and maintenance of a system or execution of projects.
- Creating control features to ensure systems effectively meet the organizations quality standards.
- Engaging in quality control procedures to ensure that systems are efficient and operational.
- Developing a cost-efficient system for projects by performing a cost-benefit analysis.

Experience:
- Proven experience as a system engineer, network administrator or similar role, with a minimum of 4 years’ practicing directly in related positions.
- Experience with scripting including proficiency in Windows PowerShell and Linux shell scripting is a must.
- Strongly recommend: Ability to create scripts in Python, JavaScript or other programming languages.
- Experience with M365 administration (M365/Azure).
- In depth knowledge of networking (LAN, WAN, TCP/IP stack)
- Hands on experience on Windows updates and patch management automation tools (Ivanti preferred).
- Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery.
- Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms including Linux.
- Kubernetes experience is a strong plus.
- Ability to be on-call on a calendar rotation.
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.
- Excellent communications skills
Education:
BS/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
Certification & Licensure:
Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) is a plus.
