There is an enormous gap between the technology built in Silicon Valley and what the average small business owner in America can actually get their hands on. The pharmacist in rural Louisiana. The auto dealer in the Midwest. The vet clinic owner who has done their books the same way for twenty years. They run the businesses that hold American communities together, and the software serving them has never reflected how much they matter.

Key Responsibilities
Own the frontend architecture. Component systems, state management, performance budgets, and the foundational decisions that determine how the product scales, visually and functionally.
Drop into the full stack when it counts. Write backend logic, wire up APIs, and trace a bug from the database to the browser without waiting on anyone.
Build data-rich interfaces that make complex financial information feel simple. The kind of UI where users instantly know what to do and why it matters.
Obsess over the details that separate a good interface from one people love using: load times, interaction latency, pixel precision, and the micro-decisions most engineers skip.
Partner closely with design to push past the mockup. Challenge constraints, propose better patterns, and close the gap between what's designed and what ships.
Turn ambiguous user needs into clean, maintainable implementations. And advocate for the user in every technical decision.
What You'll Bring
2+ years of production engineering experience. Early-stage startup experience strongly preferred.
Deep fluency in TypeScript and React, with real opinions about component architecture, rendering behavior, and state.
End-to-end ownership. You can take a feature from idea to shipped without a backend engineer holding your hand.
You know how to build with AI, not just use it. Tools like Claude Code, Codex, and other coding agents are a core part of your engineering workflow, and you know how to use them to dramatically increase your speed and output without outsourcing technical judgment.
A genuine eye for design. You notice when spacing is off, when a color is wrong, or when an interaction feels slightly broken — and you fix it without being asked.
A track record with complex, data-rich dashboards built under real performance constraints.
Speed without the debt. You move fast without leaving behind the kind of frontend mess that makes a codebase painful six months later.
High ownership. You take problems as your own and see them through — the mark of the people who thrive here.
